DESCRIPTION:Poet\, performer and activist Anne Waldman is the subject of Al
 ystyre Julian’s Outrider\, a feature-length film that approaches poetry 
 as a performed and collaborative art. Its artistic circle includes Patti S
 mith\, Meredith Monk\, Bob Dylan\, Laurie Anderson and Thurston Moore\, sh
 owing the connections surrounding Waldman’s work.\n\nJulian is herself a
  poet and filmmaker\, with experience in documentary projects\, film photo
 graphy and writing instruction. Her portrait follows an artist whose prese
 nce and delivery are integral to the work. For viewers\, that means encoun
 tering poetry through voice\, movement and relationships as well as words.
 \n\nSkidmore professors Ben Bogin and Maggie Greaves\, who teach “Buddhi
 sm and Poetry\,” introduce the screening. It also precedes Waldman’s O
 ctober 29 public reading at the Tang\, featured in Plan Ahead. The film ca
